The Opposition leader is calling for changes to be made to what she describes as the Ministry of Health (MOH) propaganda team headed by Terrence Deyalsingh.
In a release yesterday, Kamla Persad-Bissessar said, “As the nation marks a horrific statistic of more than 600 Covid-related deaths in the last 49 days, the Government refuses to account to the population as to the true state of the Covid crisis. After 16 months, the failed Ministry of Health team continues to hold their positions, while spewing propaganda daily, to hide the reality of their collective incompetence.”
She added, “It is criminally negligent that the Government refuses to make changes with close to 850 people succumbing to the virus. It is as if these 850 lives mean nothing to Keith Rowley and the MOH propaganda team.
According to the UNC leader, “Changes must be made to the MOH propaganda team of Deyalsingh, Dr Parasram, Dr Hinds, Dr Abdool-Richards and Dr Trotman. Citizens’ lives are being destroyed through their ineptitude.”
“It is now clear that the Government’s measures are not working, as cases remain high, and the number of citizens dying continues to grow. In addition, action must be taken now to tackle the challenges facing us including rising joblessness, rising poverty, and growing hunger in our society. People need to be able to work so that they can provide for their families,” she said.
“Now, more than ever, we see the critical need for a Commission of Enquiry into the Government’s handling of the pandemic and I repeat my call today. The public deserves to know the truth.”
