Kamla calls for audit of THA

Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar said the Tobago House of Assembly must be audited so taxpayers can know where their billions were spent.

Speaking in the House on Friday, she said the recent Tobago House of Assembly elections was a political earthquake that has sent shockwaves right across Trinidad and Tobago. The people of Tobago have spoken clearly and forcefully, rejecting the abysmally poor manner in which the PNM has conducted the affairs of Tobago.

“Those who have mismanaged the THA to the detriment of the people of Tobago must be held to account. In this regard, I join the call by the people of Tobago for a full and comprehensive forensic audit of the THA.
Tens of Billions of dollars of taxpayer monies claimed to be spent by the PNM in Tobago needs to be accounted for. The outgoing PNM regime needs to be held to account.”

Persad-Bissessar also stated that “The people of Tobago have sent a clear signal that it is no longer business as usual in our sister isle. The PNM must be held accountable for their abuse of the THA and the people of Tobago.”
