Judiciary Seeks Standing Finance Committee Approval For Additional $30million

The Judiciary is seeking to get a supplemental 30.3 million dollars to manage its affairs to cover the 2022 financial year.

Attorney General, Reginald Armour, told the Standing Finance Committee on Friday that the subject for the supplementary funding for which approval is being sought caters for a shortfall in the original allocation for the payment of salaries to existing contract officers in the judiciary.

The AG told the committee at this time there are 501 vacant positions and 1,281 officers are on contracts.

The AG was asked if the amount requested by the judiciary was sufficient, to which he informed the committee if there is need to make another request for more money this will be done.
