The Joint Trade Union Movement says an agreement between the government and National Insurance Board workers was reached through collective bargaining.
JTUM says the government, as the foundation of a law-abiding and democratic society, must abide therefore by the agreement.
In a media release this afternoon, JTUM expressed its solidarity with NIB workers.
JTUM said collective bargaining is the law of the land.
It said this process allows both employers (the NIB and the government in this case) and workers’ representatives to treat and negotiate on the terms and conditions of employment.
It said collective bargaining also provides a forum to resolve disputes.
