JTUM calls for public inquiry into closure of the Pointe-A-Pierre Refinery

The joint trade union movement is calling for the holding of a public inquiry into the closure of the Pointe-A-Pierre Refinery.

President General of the Oilfield Workers Trade Union, Ancil Roget, made the request during a news briefing held at the Communications Workers Union, Henry Street, Head Office in Port of Spain on Wednesday.

He claimed there was too much misinformation surrounding the closure of the refinery and the time had come for this to be clarified with input from those who had direct involvement in the sector.

Mr Roget warned if the present government does not heed to the request, JTUM will challenged the next government to accept the proposal.
