Veteran journalist John Babb, has died at 91.
His family confirmed his death in hospital on August 3.
He retired as Guardian’s editor before becoming the founding news editor at Newsday in 1993.
In 1994, he was awarded The Hummingbird Medal Silver for his work in journalism before being recognised again in 2012, being awarded The Hummingbird Medal Gold.
He retired in 2016.
Babb would have covered prime ministers from as far back as the nation’s first leader in Dr Eric Williams to the country’s first female prime minister in Kamla Persad-Bissessar.
