Jamaicans told to prepare for more rainfall on the weekend

Director of the Meteorological Service of Jamaica (Met Office), Evan Thompson, is encouraging Jamaicans to prepare for the possibility of more rainfall on the weekend.

Jamaica Observer reported that Thompson warned citizens to brace for a tropical wave, which is now developing in the Central Caribbean.

Thompson said the tropical wave is moving in and will increase rainfall in the Central Caribbean.

However he is not certain how bad it will hit Jamaica, as it may little early to say.

Thompson said that the 2020 Atlantic Hurricane Season is, to date, the most active on record.

Subtropical storm Theta, which formed in the Atlantic Ocean yesterday, is the 29th storm this season, breaking the previous record of 28 storms in 2005.
