Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness has said his government is taking decisive steps to protect the lives of citizens: “The objective of the Government is to bring our murder rate down to at least the regional average of homicide per hundred thousand.
This is an objective all Jamaicans should support as we strive to bring peace to our communities.
We continue to respect the rights of all Jamaicans, however, we have to ensure that the security forces have the tools to carry out the operational tasks that will be required to help bring a sense of normalcy to the communities affected.
We are taking decisive steps to protect the lives of our citizens”.
