Jah Cure to remain in jail after judge’s ruling

A Netherlands judge has ruled that Jamaican entertainer Jah Cure should continue serving his six-year sentence for attempted manslaughter in that country.

The reggae singer was appearing in court on Tuesday for a pro forma hearing.

According to the Jamaica Observe, the press officer at the Public Prosecution Office to the Court of Appeals in the Netherlands said the hearing was simply for the judge to decide on the continuation of the incarceration.

The officer added that coming out of the hearing, the court has decided to keep Jah Cure in detention.

The next date at which his detention will be decided upon is planned for November 1.

In March 2022, Jah Cure, whose real name is Siccature Alcock, was sentenced to six years for stabbing a show promoter over unpaid monies.

The singer was acquitted of the more serious charge of attempted murder.

He has been incarcerated since October 2021.
