SEAN PAUL – MR. UNIVERSE TT
Q: What has been a challenge you’ve experienced in life, and how did you overcome it?
A: One challenge I have experienced in life is facing the many negative backlashes from society and being stereotyped. I overcome this by turning the negativity into positive energy and promoting it in a good light.
Q: Why were you the best candidate to win Mister Universe TT?
A: I believe I am the best candidate because I have a strong drive and determination and I aspire to become a role model to others.
Q: Why did you decide to compete in this pageant? Why did you want to win the pageant?
A: I decided to compete in this pageant because I wanted to break the stereotype of males in pageantry and I wanted to win to create a platform for other male individuals like myself and different walks of life, to feel comfortable to make the same step as I did.
Q: Do you think that male pageantry objectifies men?
A: No, I do not think that pageantry objectifies males because we should be given the same platform as our female counterparts to showcase our skills, talents and knowledge in the same forum.
Q: Why is your platform/ title important to you?
A: My title is important to me because now I’m able to reach a bigger platform to individuals so that they can learn, experience, and gain knowledge about the different attributes that come with cyberbullying and discrimination to one’s well-being.
Q:About the social media bullying that contestants experienced before the finale of the competition, how did you overcome the online bullying and how did you triumph beyond it?
A: What I’ve done is try not to focus on the negative backlash from outside sources and turned the negativity into positive energy, I also became triumph because all publicity is good publicity and I’ve used it to grow my platform in order to broadcast my purpose as to why I’ve entered the competition.
Q: There is a group of people who does not support the concept of beauty contests, what will you tell them?
A: Beauty is more than a look, it is also skin deep, what’s on the inside is a reflection of what is on the outside, people should be comfortable to partake in any event that is most comfortable for themselves.
Q: What have you learned from this competition?
A: What I’ve learned from this competition, is learning to be strong and non-reactive to harsh critiques and comments that may affect my self-esteem and to focus on what is best for me.
Q: How will you balance your family, life and career?
A: Life is all about sacrifices and commitment and being able to allocate your time to what is necessary to one’s personal well-being in life.
Q: What is your biggest fear?
A: My biggest fear will have to be a failure because when you focus on the negative effects of failure u tend to draw a negative lifestyle where you become a low self-esteem person and wouldn’t want to accomplish anything else.
Q: How do you define success?
A: I would define success as being able to stand my own ground and being able to accomplish my personal goals.
Q: Who is the most inspiring person in your life and how?
A: The most inspiring person in my life is female soca artiste and musician Nailah Blackman, she is a young individual like myself that has been breaking barriers and becoming an icon to young individuals and I would like to follow in those footsteps of becoming a role model.
Q: What do you plan to do after winning the title? How would you inspire others?
A: I plan on creating a platform for young individuals like myself and different walks of life to feel accepted in whatever they want to accomplished, I intend to inspire others by making them feel comfortable to accomplish their goals.
