The Met Service says although periods of light rain are expected tonight, the intensity of the rainfall forecasted is expected to increase during the early morning tomorrow.
In its adverse weather alert number two, the Met Service says there is a medium chance of isolated thunderstorms but a high potential for intermittent, moderate to heavy rainfall to continue throughout the day.
It says this increases the risk for localized flooding in areas so prone and can further exacerbate impacts from today’s rainfall activity.
The weather alert says river levels in the main river courses are contained at this time but there is the likelihood that tributaries and smaller river courses can overflow their banks.
It says landslips may occur in areas so prone and gusty winds in excess of 45 km/hr may accompany heavy showers or thunderstorms.
Residents in the vicinity of river courses must be mindful of river levels.
