Increased in cost of extra duty for police officers raised during the JSC

An increase in demand and activities are cited by the Police Service as the reasons for a hike in the cost of extra duty for police officers to cover events held by promoters from 2017 to 2020.

Joint Select Committee member, Randall Mitchell, raised the matter during a JSC meeting on national security held today.

Commissioner of Police, Erla Harewood Christopher, revealed details pertaining to the rate of a police officer per hour from the ranks of constable, corporal, sergeant, inspector, assistant superintendent, superintendent, senior superintendent and assistant commissioner.

Promoters have complained about the rising cost to hire police officers at their events.

However, the JSC has informed a policy has been developed by the TTPS on this matter and promoters are aware of it.
