Incoming flights are only determined by the Government says CAL

Caribbean Airlines says all incoming flights are determined by the Government and are solely operated by the airline based on their instructions.

CAL says since the borders have been closed it takes its instructions from the Ministry of National Security for cancelling and creating flights in and out of Trinidad and Tobago. This according to Communications Specialist at Caribbean Airlines, Dionne Ligoure.

In an interview with IzzSo Media this evening, Ligoure said that while citizens are awaiting to return home, Caribbean Airlines has no authorization to change, cancel or add flights to T&T’s route.

When asked about the growing concern of persons being stuck outside of the country who were scheduled to return but had flights cancelled, Ms. Ligoure said that any changes to CAL’s operations at this present moment rests solely on the instructions from the Ministry of National Security.

Ligoure said that while she understands the frustration of many; there is nothing the airline can do – she said given that CAL currently takes its direction from the Ministry; there is also consideration for repatriated citizens on whether or not there is adequate space in the country’s quarantine facilities to ensure that they can be housed, tested, examined and looked after once brought back in.
