Ice Spice’s real name lands her in trouble on Instagram

Ice Spice had an Instagram post removed for violating its “community guidelines on violent or dangerous groups” just for using her own name.

The Bronx-bred rapper — who has over 6 million followers on Instagram — reportedly encountered some controversy over a recent post. The “Munch” viral star, whose real name is Isis Naija Gaston, took to her Instagram Story on Monday (April 17) to explain that she that she was in “violation” for using her real name, Isis.

“Can’t type my name is ode,” she wrote alongside a screenshot showing the banned post.

The post was removed most likely because of an automatic filter on the platform, which was created to block any mention of the terrorist organization, otherwise known as ISIS or ISIL.

However, her post was just a photo of herself on the set with Nicki Minaj for their “Princess Diana” remix visual.

In other Ice Spice news, she and Nicki Minaj have teamed up to release a new EP of “Princess Diana” remixes. This comes just days after the song’s video set fire to the internet.

Released on Tuesday (April 18), the New York natives new project includes four alternate versions of Ice Spice’s popular track, including one titled “Extendo Clip.” The four remixes maintain the original’s energetic beat while bringing their own flavor, texture and influence to the work.

The remix of the Like…? single comes after Ice Spice was shouted out by the Pinkprint rapper after she appeared on the cover of Dazed magazine.

“GAG!!! ‘The people’s PRINCESS.’ Catch it!!!” Nicki wrote at the time. She also quoted Ice Spice’s “Princess Diana” lyrics back to her in the comments, making the link-up very fitting.

The Bronx-bred rapper dropped the accompanying raunchy visual featuring Nicki Minaj last week.

Throughout the video, we see both rappers donning an entirely pink wardrobe as they get up close and personal with one another in a Barbie-inspired bedroom. At one point, Nicki grabs Ice Spice’s derrière, after the Bronx rapper slapped on hers earlier in the clip.

“Princess Diana” is the latest single off Ice Spice’s debut EP to get the visual treatment. Spice had previously dropped off the visual for “In Ha Mood” in March.
