The man who was expected to be charged with stabbing his wife, Ramragie Gobin, to death hanged himself in his prison cell on Monday morning.
Police officers found 53-year-old Chamanlal Gobin hanging in his cell at the Mon Repos Police Station in San Fernando. He was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Gobin was expected to be charged with the murder of his 49-year-old wife who was found in her Ridgewood Gardens, Golconda home with stab wounds to her neck.
On November 17, Gobin called her daughter and told her that her husband was at her home although she had taken out a protection order against him. The two had separated.
