House Speaker Intervenes To Quell Heated Cross Talk In Parliament

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Bridget Anisette George, had to intervene on several occasions during friday’s sitting to restore order to the proceedings following cross talk between Prime Minister Rowley and the Opposition which at one point became heated.

Dr Rowley was asked by Naparima MP Rodney Charles to state what diplomatic steps will be undertaken to contain the fallout from international reports suggesting this country is not treating its Venezuelan refugee/migrants humanely.

The House Speaker on several occasions had to take appropriate action to bring the deliberations under control following the voicing of a particular comment from the Prime Minister which was directed to the Opposition Leader.

After withdrawing his comment, Dr Rowley informed the parliament of what steps have been taken to treat with the incident.
