Hours of rain cause flash floods across East-West corridor

Several hours of rain yesterday morning caused flash flooding in Port of Spain.

According to the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM), the streets affected included Colville Street, Richmond Street, Edward Street, South Quay, Chacon Street, Independence Square South, Henry Street, Piccadilly Street South, Lower Charlotte Street, and St Vincent Street.

The flooding also led to traffic jams for motorists attempting to leave or enter the capital city.

Flooding was also reported in San Juan, Trincity, and Arima.
