Hospital COVID Occupancy Levels on the Decline

The Ministry of Health says it is noting a decline in the overall occupancy for COVID wards.

The confirmation comes from Principal Medical Officer-Institutions, Dr Maryam Abdool-Richards.

She revealed that the figure, which is now at 30 percent, is the lowest since April last year.

Although the admission figures are down, Dr Abdool Richards warned against complacency.

She noted that the measures in place, including vaccination, must continue to be adhered to if the numbers are to remain on the decline.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh revealed that the country has passed the 50-percent vaccination mark.
