St Lucia Prime Minister, Philip J Pierre, plans to honour the historic performance of Julien Alfred in the women’s 100 meters at the Paris Olympics with a national holiday.
Mr Pierre made the announcement, during a SportsMax interview, on Monday.
However, specific detail on the holiday was not revealed at the time.
“Everyone is asking me about a holiday,” Prime Minister Pierre said with a smile. “All I can say is, yes, there will be a holiday.”
Alfred is into Tuesday’s women’s 200 meters final after placing first in her heat on Monday in 22.41 seconds.
