Hikers rescued in Chaguaramas

A group of nine hikers including an eight year old boy, on their way to Edith falls in Chaguaramas became trapped on a riverbank and had to be rescued by fire officers on Sunday.

The hikers became trapped on the riverbank when heavy rain caused the river to begin flooding. The hikers called firefighters just after 2:00pm for assistance.

Fire officers from the Chaguaramas Fire Station and the Santa Cruz Fire Station Land Search and Rescue Team were able to rescue the group within 30 minutes, with no injuries.
