A contractor attached to the Heritage Petroleum Company Limited (HPCL) was robbed of personal items ad the company’s vehicle, on the Guapo Field on Thursday.
A press release from HPCL confirmed the incident occurred around 12:30p.m. The release states that the contractor was subsequently released in the Santa Flora area.
The Company’s Security personnel immediately responded, and a report was filed with the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS). Investigations into the incident are underway.
The company says that it takes the safety and security of its employees, contractors and the public very seriously and has redoubled its efforts to minimize security risks by:
• Working closely with the contractor company to ensure that the employee’s emotional
and physical well-being is given the necessary attention and care
• Assisting the TTPS with its investigation
• Increasing security patrols in its fields and connecting roads
• Implementing additional security measures
As the company works assiduously towards addressing these security concerns, the public is asked to exercise extreme caution while traversing the Field Roads and to report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
Earlier this week, HPCL said that the closure of the roads leading to the field at night was to ensure the safety of its employees.
