Her Excellency Paula Mae Weekes Christmas message

President of the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago Her Excellency Paula Mae Weekes has encouraged Trinbagonians to be courteous and generous all through the year.

Her Excellency said ” Trinbagonians are fundamentally a generous people , as can be seen when there are appeals for assistance in the media for students, families in need or people with medical emergencies” She also said that we can be generous with our forking out money.

Her Excellency indicated that ” We can donate our time and talent to worthy causes, sometimes our presence can be a present. Let us intensify our giving in 2020. President Weekes also said ” The Christmas spirit should be embodies throughout the year.

The 12 days of Christmas is a most opportune time as we move toward a new year and decade to do a bit of reviewing and planning and look back with satisfaction at the boxes we have ticked off, and look forward to checking off yet more as we roll into 2020. She stresses that she was in no way minimising the unhappier events of 2019, such as the increasing incidence of wanton crime, continuing job losses , devastating flooding and tragic road deaths, we can each take personal responsibility and think how many these circumstances could have turned out differently, if we had spoken out or acted in the Christmas spirit”.
