Heerah: Upsurge of violence in Tobago home grown

While some have proffered the argument that gangs from Trinidad have been infiltrating Tobago and this accounts for the increase in violence and murders some stakeholders and experts are saying this simply isn’t so.

Yesterday, Head of the Tobago Chamber, Martin Gorge, said that Tobagonians need to take their heads out of the sand and realise that the violence being seen is home grown.

Agreeing with this sentiment, Security Expert Garvin Heerah said that he too did not believe the upsurge in violence on the island was because of gangs in Trinidad.

He told the Power Breakfast Show on Power 102 Digital this morning that he felt organised crime had touched the shores of the sister isle.

He warned that the situation has to be arrested as soon as possible especially given Tobago’s position as a tourist destination.
