While the Ministry of Health isn’t “waving the hard stick” to ensure public health compliance, public health officials will conduct spot checks to ensure food establishments, specifically, abide by the regulations.
Dr. Saed Rahaman, Director of Veterinary Public Health at the Ministry of Health said spot checks are being done so that they can check as many business places as possible. Thus far, he has noted very good cooperation from businesses which rules out the need for enforcement at this time.
He then explained how spot checks are done.
Earlier this week, Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh applauded the doubles vendors for complying with the new Public Health Regulations.
