Parents and guardians are being assured that extensive research has been carried out around the world into the safety and effectiveness of the covid-19 vaccination being given to children five to eleven year old.
In Trinidad and Tobago children within this age group started receiving their jab against the virus last week Wednesday. So far 862 doses of the vaccine have been utilised.
At the Ministry of Health’s media briefing today, Head of the Paediatric Emergency Department, at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Dr Joanne Paul, responded to a question, asked by many parents, regarding possible side effects from children 5 to 11years old taking the vaccine.
Dr Paul reviewed situations which have developed in cases around the world in the 12 to 17 age group as it relates to myocarditis described by health experts as inflammation of the heart muscle.
