Health Ministry’s head office to remain closed following ruptured pipeline

The Ministry of Health’s head office at Jerningham Avenue, Port of Spain will remain closed today.

Several floors of the building were flooded out on Tuesday, following a ruptured pipeline.

However, despite repairs being completed on the pipeline yesterday, the office wil remain closed for safety checks.

The Ministry had previously hoped that the building would be open for regular operations today, Thursday, as necessary works were scheduled to continue throughout the Labour Day holiday on Wednesday.

But, in an update Wednesday evening, it explained that building systems still have to be inspected to ensure the safety and comfort of staff and visitors to the building.

The Ministry said it’s working diligently with all stakeholders to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
