Health Minister tells parents bring children to be vacccinated despite inclement weather

Health Minister Terrance Deyalsingh says the inclement weather has caused issues at some sites, as the vaccination process for children begins today.

The vaccination process was carded to begin at 8 o’clock this morning however there were reports of flooding in Penal near the POWERGEN vaccination site.

There were also reports of rising water levels across the country this morning brought on by heavy rainfall which caused some difficulties with accessing the vaccination sites today.

The Meteorological Service issued a Yellow Level Alert due to an active Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone.

It says there is a high chance of occasional heavy showers and/or thunderstorms and flooding with the threat of gusty winds.

Despite this, Minister Deyalsingh has called on parents to ensure they take their children to be vaccinated.

He told the Power Breakfast Show this morning that all is in place for the start of the vaccination process today.

The Health Minister said that the Ministry would like to vaccinate as many children as possible.

He said he knows that there are some parents who listen to conspiracy theorists and may choose not to get their children vaccinated, but he hopes that good sense prevails and the majority does the opposite.

He maintained based on the drastic deterioration of health care systems even in first world countries due to the quick spread of various variants especially the delta variant, it is imperative that persons, not just the young, get vaccinated.
