Health Minister: Mask mandate to be lifted on Sunday 17 July

A date has been set for the lifting of the mask mandate.

According to the Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh the mask mandate will be lifted on Sunday 17th July.

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley indicated last Saturday during comments to the media that the lifting of the mandate would come into effect by the idle of the month.

Minister Deyalsingh confirmed the date this morning during the Ministry of Health’s Covid Media Update.

The Minister said though, that there would be certain recommendations for continued masking.

For example he said that masks would be required at health institutions.

He gave the framework of the recommendations from the Ministry of Health.

He listed the four categories of persons who are being encouraged to continue wearing masks.

The Health Minister also indicated institutions and areas where mask wearing is strongly recommended.

Visitors to geriatric and children’s homes are being advised to wear masks.

Indoor areas, especially where there is inadequate ventilation and where is difficult to practice social distancing.
