Health Minister is urging the public not to get carried away by yesterday’s zero COVID statistics

Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh is urging the public not to get carried away by yesterday’s zero/zero COVID statistics.

Yesterday saw the country experience no new COVID cases and no COVID related deaths in a 24 hour period for the first time since early August.

While admitting that the statistics look good, the Health Minister emphasized that one day of zero/zero does not mean the end of COVID.

Speaking on the Power Breakfast Show, Minister Deyalsingh also updated the population on the worldwide search for a COVID vaccine.

Trinidad and Tobago is part of the COVAX facility which is a group of countries pooling their resources towards finding a vaccine and ensuring equitable and fair distribution of the vaccine.

The Health Minister explained that while trials are now underway of several potential vaccines, a lot must happen before the world gets to the point of having a safe, reliable vaccine.
