Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh is denying claims that a lack of PCR tests is causing a holdup in the process surrounding the release of dead bodies to families.
He made the comment while speaking in Parliament yesterday.
Opposition Senator Wade Mark had claimed that a lack of PCR tests had led to delays in the release of the bodies suspected of having died from COVID-19.
He enquired whether the Government intended to approve the use of private laboratories to administer PCR tests in cases where COVID-19 is the suspected cause of death.
However Minister Deyalsingh rebuffed the claim.
Senator Mark pressed further on the issue and enquired about a backlog of bodies.
However Minister Deyalsingh rebuffed the claim.
