The Prison Officers Association is claiming there is urgent need for more security cameras at the nation’s prisons.

Mr Richards said in terms of the amount of cameras to monitor and surveillance high security facilities a significant amount is required.

Mr Richards said this is an aspect of operations in the country’s penal institutions which cannot be treated in a laid back way.

Mr Richards made the comments while speaking on Power 102 Digital’s Power Breakfast Show on Tuesday morning.

Mr Richard also commented on attacks some of which have been fatal on the life of prison officers.

Another area Mr Richards commented on had to do with the corrupt officers and contraband items coming into the prison system.
