The National Security Minister Fitzgerald Hinds is being taken to task for his comments following the Rose Hill RC School.
UNC MP Anita Haynes during a UNC media briefing, described his response as callous and dismissive.
She said his comments did nothing to allay the fear of parents, teachers or students.
She responded to a suggestion that the school be relocated so that the students and staff would be placed out of harm’s way.
She said such a move sends a clear message to the community that the Government does not care.
She is of the belief that the escalating crime is linked to the Government’s policies.
