Guy-Alleyne: Child in choking incident receiving help but not sharing necessary info with authorities

Supt Clair Guy Alleyne says that the child who was allegedly choked by an adult relative recently is receiving psycho social help.

Children’s Authority said that it found the child who was seen in a viral video being choked by a woman on Independence Square, Port of Spain on the night of May 7.

In a media release on May 8, the authority said the child was found with the help of the Child Protection Unit of the police service and concerned citizens.

CEO Sheldon Cyrus said the boy is now safe.

Speaking on the Power Breakfast Show this morning Guy – Alleyne said that while the child is getting help the child is not sharing all the information necessary with the authorities.

She made a call for the person heard in the video telling the individual choking the child to stop, to come forward.

She said that while video evidence is permissible in a court of law, unfortunately for the matter to move forward there needs to be another individual corroborating the evidence found in the video.
