Guayan Amazon Warriors look to extend CPL Finals Appearances Record

Five time losing CPL T-20 finalists, Guyana Amazon Warriors are 2 victories away from shedding their title as the “next best” and “runners up”.

If it’s any consolation, if they do overcome St Kitts & Nevis Patriots in today’s semi-finals, they can extend their record as the team with the most finals appearances (6) although they have yet to win the competition.

The Warriors are on a high, having won 4 of their last 5 while the Patriots have lost 4 of their last 5.

The lack of form will not deter Patriots Captain Dwayne Bravo who continues to extend his CPL career figures.

Bravo’s eight wickets this season have extended his CPL wickets record to 114, 18 more than the next closest bowler Rayad Emrit.

However the Warriors will be just as bullish going into today’s semis with three of this year’s top 5 leading wicket takers in their lineup.

Romario Shepherd is tied with Ravi Rampaul for most wickets this year (18) and has the highest average of any bowler who has bowled 30 or more overs.

Odean Smith is 3rd in the wicket figures with 16 and sits 2nd in bowling average behind Shepherd among bowlers with more than 30 overs.

Imran Tahir rounds out the top 5 wicket takers with 13 to his name and sits 3rd place in the economy rate table among bowlers who have bowled more than 30 overs.
