A Glock semi-automatic pistol, which was issued by a security company to one of its guards, and reported missing some five days ago, has been found.
The pistol was found by officers of the St Joseph police in a box near a drain on Sunday.
The officers were acting on a tip-off when they went to an area near the St Joseph Health, Centre.
They also found two magazines each holding 11 rounds of nine-millimetre calibre ammunition.
Police said the pistol’s serial number matched that of the gun reported missing last Tuesday by the security company.
St Joseph police are continuing enquiries.
