Gov’t Defends Purpose Of Immigration CARICOM Skilled Nationals Amendment Bill

The government is strongly defending the purpose of the Immigration Caribbean Community Skilled Nationals Amendment Bill, 2022.

Vice President of the Senate, Nigel De Freitas, in his contribution assured the bill has nothing to do with vote padding.

Mr De Freitas in his discourse responded to comments made by Opposition Senator, Wade Mark, defining what was voter padding and developing on whether this was in fact the case.

Mr De Freitas also responded to concerns from another Opposition Senator, Damien Lyder, who claimed the jobs of locals will be under threat if the government follow through on this move.

The Senate Vice President said this kind of bill is critical especially in light of the seriousness of the times we live in and building up each other is vital by allowing  persons from throughout the Caribbean to ply their trade or profession locally.
