Government, T&T Chamber Of Commerce To Collaborate On Achieving Sustainable Development Goals

The strengthening of public and private sector relationships was on the agenda of discussions Tuesday between Minister of Planning and Development, Penelope Beckles and new Chief Executive Officer of the T&T Chamber, Stephen de Gannes.

Minister Beckles welcomed Mr. de Gannes and reiterated the need for the private sector to be fully on board to achieve the National Development Strategy Vision 2023, and the Global Sustainable Development Goals.

Minister Beckles emphasized the need to build a more open and trustworthy connection between sectors, to address the many challenges that face Trinidad and Tobago, socially, economically and environmentally.

Key areas for possible collaboration include supporting the T&T Chamber members to align their organisations with the SDGs, addressing ‘ease of doing business’ difficulties in T&T, for both local, regional and international stakeholders, and to increase cooperation with the Central Statistically Office to ensure that a data driven economy.
