Government Says No To UNC’s Request For Foreign Election Observers

The government will not invite international observers to monitor the upcoming local government elections.

The Opposition Leader speaking during the UNC’s Monday Night Forum said she had written to Prime Minister, Dr Keith Rowley, requesting the government invite foreign observes to ensure free and fair local government elections.

However, speaking at a PNM Breakfast meeting Wednesday at the Hilton Trinidad,  Dr Rowley said Trinidad and Tobago has a good track record in this area and has sent people to monitor elections in other nations.
