Government Mum On Education Facilities Company Ltd Amid Court Proceedings

Until court proceedings are concluded, the Government is making it clear no further statements can or should be made with respect to the Education Facilities Company Limited.

This position was put forward by Leader of Government Business in the Senate, Dr Amery Browne.

On Wednesday, Opposition Senator, Wade Mark, questioned how the Government intended to treat with debt which he claimed amounts to over $600 million – owed to contractors, consultants and workers, given the decision to shut down the operations of EFCL.

Dr Browne faced numerous supplemental questions on the subject but insisted the EFCL is the subject of an active winding up petition before the High Court and as a consequence this matter is sub-judice.
