Gonzales says UNC conditioning its supporters to believe the PNM is against them

Public Utilities Minister Marvin Gonzales was breathing fire this morning when asked to respond to the allegations by MP Padarath.

He responded with a measure of exasperation, that the United National Congress had a bad habit of turning every issue into one about race political bias.

He said that party insists on conditioning its members to believe that the PNM is against them.

He told the Power Breakfast Show on Power 102 Digital this morning that it was the UNC who tied the country to Desalcott when they were in Gov’t and even extended the contract.

He said in 2014 when the country was supposed to be looking for sources of water to reduce the reliance on Desal water, the UNC extended the contract.

Gonzales said most of the water from the desalination plant goes to households in Central and South Trinidad.

Commenting on the recent water issues involving Desalcott in terms of its effect on schools which reopened on Monday, the Minister said that from all reports WASA has been able to facilitate all schools that have requested a supply of water.
