Gold for cyclist Nicholas Paul in Colombia

It was Gold for TT’s star cyclist Nicholas Paul, after he won the men’s keirin gold at the Tissot International Cycling Union (UCI) Track Nations Cup in Cali, Colombia on Saturday night.

Paul clocked 9.911 seconds in the final and beat to the line silver medalist Jai Angsuthasawit of Thailand.
Sam Dakin of New Zealand copped the bronze.

In the first round, Paul topped heat five with a 9.774s clocking and automatically advanced to the second stage.

Countryman Kwesi Browne contested heat three but placed second behind Colombian Kevin Quintero. He was made to contest the repechage in a final attempt to secure second round qualification.

There, Browne placed second in heat three and did not advance. Only repechage winners earned spots in the next round.

Meanwhile, as action continued on Sunday morning, Nicholas successfully advanced to the semi finals of the sprints after defeating Yu Zhou of China in two straight rides.
