Glen Road, Tobago residents want prison removed; say facility was “sneaked” in

“Low risk or high risk, move the prison.”

That was the cry on Friday morning, as residents of Glen Road, Scarborough, gathered to stage a protest in front of the recently relocated Tobago Correctional Facility, which they say was sneaked into their village last Saturday.

The prison, which is now located at Montessori Drive, has upset villagers due to the lack of consultation and the close proximity to homes and businesses.

Acting Prison Commissioner Dennis Pulchan recently stated that the facility was a low-risk one, as no murderers or violent crime offenders were placed there.

However, the residents say that does not matter and they are demanding the removal of the facility now.
