A 41-year-old man drowned at the Flower Pot Beach in Pointe-a-Pierre on Monday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Rajesh Vishram of Harmony Hall, Gasparillo.
Reports state that Vishram went to the beach with a group of friends, when around 1pm, he remained in the water to swim while the others returned to shore.
About 10 minutes later, checks were made for him, but Vishram could not be located.
He was last seen floating some 15 feet from the shoreline.
An alarm was raised and checks were made along the coast.
Eventually his body was discovered and brought to shore.
Attempts were made to resuscitate him, but they were unsuccessful.
