Commissioner Griffith is clarifying once again the difference between hosting private and public events.
His comments come following an outcry on social media after 250 persons were arrested at a “Zesser party” in Kelly Village at the weekend.
Commissioner Griffith said that the persons involved will be charged for violating the COVID guidelines.
The police’s action was contrasted with their lack of action regarding an large extravagant wedding held in Valsayn over the weekend.
Videos circulating show persons in attendance not wearing masks.
Commissioner Griffith said the police are constrained by the law and can only act accordingly.
The Commissioner said that while the majority of persons are adhering to the regulations, there are those who are putting their friends and family at risk.
Commissioner Griffith, added that leading into the Christmas period, it will be essential to address the COVID numbers.
