Gary Griffith blasts “hypocrisy” over FULs

Acting Police Commissioner Gary Griffith continues to defend his policy regarding the distribution of Firearm User Licenses.

Speaking at yesterday’s Police Media briefing he rubbished the perception that he would discriminate against who receives a license.

He insisted that once citizens meet the eligibility criteria, they have a right to apply and their application will be processed.

He added that in comparison to what previously existed, there can be no claims of favouritism.

He blasted an article in the Trinidad Express newspaper regarding the issue written by Denyse Renne which he described as hypocritical.

Commissioner Griffith noted that while former Police Commissioner Stephen Williams described persons owning multiple firearms as “raw madness”, there have been cases in the past of persons being granted licences for up to 10 guns.
