Men’s National Futsal team push on with training ahead of CONCACAF Qualifiers

Men’s National Futsal team head coach Constantine Konstin continues to put his squad of players through their paces at the International School of Port of Spain indoor court as this country prepares for the CONCACAF Futsal Championship in Guatemala in May.
In a release issued last evening by the TTFA, Konstin’s men are coming off a series of warm-up games against local-based opposition including a team of Venezuelan players which saw T&T lost the opener 1-0 and rebounded with a 3-1 victory. T&T also drew 5-5 with Defence Force while coming away with an 11-1 win over a Select Team of former T&T National Futsal players.
The 2021 Concacaf Futsal Championship will take place in Guatemala City, Guatemala, from May 3-9, 2021. T&T plays Guadeloupe in its Group A opener on May 3, Martinique on May 4th and hosts Guatemala on May 5th.The top two teams in the four groups will advance to the quarter-finals.
Constantine Konstin said “these games were good indicators for us as I got a chance to see the players in game situations against a well oiled Venezuelan team and a very physical and competitive Defence Force team.”
The World Cup qualifying tournament will be played at the Domo Polideportivo and Teodoro Palacios Flores Gymnasium. Both venues have a long history of hosting top-level international Futsal competitions, including the 2000 FIFA Futsal World Cup. The FIFA Futsal World Cup Lithuania 2021 takes place September 12 – October 6, 2021.
The four semi-finalists in the Concacaf championship will qualify for the World Cup.
