Born Akil Anthony Borneo also better known by his Soca stage name 5Star Akil, the disc jockey who hails from St James made another major step in his life.
Borneo began his career in music at the age of 16 as a DJ, playing live music at Club Prosperity in his neighbourhood, then holding down a prime time slot on urban radio, Slam 100.5fm and claiming his spot in the music industry as a Soca artiste; now the star is off to sing a different genre of music.
5Star made a touching Instagram post last evening, letting his fans and followers know that in light of his past trauma he decided to be born again and baptize.
Akil in his post said, having been shot 5 times, and overcome a host of life’s trials and tribulations he went where his heart, mind and soul led him.
Now he says “I am a new creation of Jesus Christ.”
