Another family outing ended in tragedy on Sunday, when a 60-year-old woman drowned while swimming in Las Cuevas.
Police said Margaret Ramdoolie of Arena Road, Freeport was at Damian Bay, with relatives, when around 4.30 pm, the woman and relatives went into the water for a swim.
Soon after, her relatives noticed she was floating face down in the water about 50 feet from the shore.
One of the relatives pulled her to shore.
An ambulance was called in and emergency medical technicians tried performing CPR but were unsuccessful.
She was taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where she was declared dead at around 6.19 pm.
