Four Pregnant Women Have Died Due To Covid 19, Says Director of Women’s Health

Four pregnant women have died due to covid 19.

This was revealed by Director of Women’s Health Dr Adesh Sirjusingh, during the Ministry of Health’s media conference on Monday,

Additionally there have been four confirmed cases of mother to child transmission of COVID-19.

Dr Sirjusingh also stated that with a total of seven maternal deaths for 2021, the country’s Sustainable Development Goals Target which provides for less than 30 deaths per 100,000 live births or a maximum of four deaths annually has been surpassed.

T&T met those targets consistently for four years, since 2017, but fell short as a result of the pandemic.
