Four offshore workers injured in fire on Bravo Platform

A small fire aboard an offshore oil platform on the east coast of Trinidad, resulted in injuries being sustained by four of the operators working aboard.

The incident, which has only now been made public, occurred Monday 10 April, on the Bravo platform, operated by Trinity Exploration and Production.

In a statement, the operator, Trinity Exploration & Production, which is focused on the areas around the island, reports that production from its East Coast field was also briefly suspended.

All four people were treated for smoke inhalation but two individuals sustained minor burns.

The platform was subsequently evacuated, and the four operators remain under medical observation.

Energy minister Stuart Young confirmed that the incident was reported to the Ministry.

He said the company is carrying out the safety checks and processes to restart production from the platform and in doing so has to satisfy the Ministry’s personnel that it is safe to resume operations.

Reports say damage was limited to the individual platform and there was no result of pollution.
